Important Announcement re: Applications and Invitations
Dearest Gentle Readers,
After much deliberation by the mod team we have decided to make some changes regarding how the game is run - specifically regarding the application and invite systems.
Quite simply, we did not at all expect the level of interest that we have garnered and the number of players we've gotten for what was supposed to be a small sandbox type game.
Because of this we have made the decision to end the rolling application system ie. having them always open and instead switch to the more standard practice of having them be open for a set period every month. We have stated from the very beginning that the rolling application system would be subject to review once we had more of an idea of the number of players we would attract. We feel that now is the time to make some changes.
The current system as it stands will end on Monday 24th of April, to give people a chance over the weekend to get in any applications they want to make under the old system before the changes take effect. After this we will close applications for them to be reopened again on the 1st of May for a period of 1 week: the 1st until the 7th. The specific deadline time will always be 12.01AM EST on the 7th. Having them opened for the first week of every month will be the new system going forward.
It has also been noted that having apps open all the time is creating a situation where some new players come in after an event has already started to wind down. We're therefore hoping that having a specific application window right before each month's event will place new and current players on a more equal footing in terms of engagement with what's going on in game.
During our closure of applications for the rest of April we will be making some changes to the application form itself - details of this will follow shortly.
We are also going to be changing the way player invites are handled going forward and similarly, invitations will open for a set period beginning on the 25th of every month until the last day of the month - right before apps open.
Players will be required to submit their invitations with the names of those they wish to invite to our revamped Invites page during this period, prior to applications opening on the 1st.
Our FAQ, Rules pages etc will be updated in due course to reflect these changes once they come into effect.
We want to keep this game sustainable for the long haul for everyone and really feel that this is the best course to take given the rate of growth and the number of players we've had in such a short time - which suffice to say, we are delighted about!
We hope that our players are supportive of these changes and of course we are always to happy answer any questions that you may have below.

1. It may be worth making this page viewable to non-members of the community so people know when apps are open if they’re planning on requesting mod invites.
2. When in this cycle are TDMs planned to happen? I know I have a friend interested who wanted to poke the next TDM.

1. No worries at all and thanks for your suggestion. The announcement is now public.
2. TDMs are covered in our FAQ and that information still stands - they're bi-monthly and occur on the last weekend of every month. So the next one we're looking at currently will take place on the 27th of May.

We would much rather be transparent about something that isn't going to work long term and fix it.
